Reconstruction is more specialised than a standard gel pedicure, so it helps to know what the visit looks like.
- Assess. Your technician looks at how much natural nail remains, the shape of the nail bed, and whether the toe is ready to work on.
- Prep. Loose or overly thick material is reduced and the surface is cleaned so the gel can bond properly.
- Build. Gel is applied in thin layers and cured, with the shape built to match your other toes.
- Finish. The nail is filed, buffed and finished — usually nude, blush or a French tip — so it reads as a real toenail rather than a cap.

Yes to both. A reconstructed nail takes regular or gel polish exactly like a natural one, and you can wear it bare if you prefer — it is shaped and finished to match your other toes. Once it has set you can shower, swim and wear closed shoes as normal.
Can you put a fake nail on a missing toenail?
Yes, in most cases. Once the skin where the nail used to be has fully healed, your technician builds a new nail over the nail bed in thin layers of gel, shapes it to match your other toes and finishes it with polish or a French tip. If the area is still open, weeping or sore, wait until it has healed and check with a doctor first.
