What Gel X on toes actually is
Gel X is a soft gel extension system. Instead of sculpting the nail from powder and liquid like acrylic, the technician uses pre-shaped soft gel tips that bond to the whole nail. You can read more about it on our Gel X nails page.
On toes the idea is the same, just on a smaller scale. The tips are matched to each toenail, bonded on, shaped and then finished in the colour or design you want. The result is an actual extension on the toe, not just polish, so short or uneven toenails can look even and tidy in sandals.
Who Gel X toes are a good fit for
A toe set usually makes sense for one of these reasons:
- Short toenails. If your toenails barely show past the toe, an extension gives you a nail to paint.
- Uneven or damaged toenails. A set can even out toenails that have grown in different lengths or are recovering from damage.
- Matching hands and feet. If you are getting Gel X on your hands, matching toes make the whole look consistent, especially for a trip, a wedding or pool season.
If a toenail is missing or badly damaged rather than just short, ask about Barefoot toenail reconstruction instead. That is a different service that rebuilds the nail itself. If the skin around a toe is open, sore or still healing, wait until it heals and check with a doctor before booking any nail service.
Full toe set or just the big toes
You do not have to do all ten toes. There are two common ways to book it:
- A full set on the toes. Every toenail gets an extension, so they all match in length and shape.
- The two big toes only. The big toes get the extension and the rest are finished with a gel pedicure. This works well if only your big toenails need the length.

Not every technician does extensions on toes, so it is worth booking with someone who lists it. According to their pages on our site:
- Amy does Gel X full sets on hands and Gel X full-set toes.
- Euni does Gel X on toes as well as fingers, so you can match your hands and feet in the same visit.
- Vivian does full sets on toes in poly gel, Gel X and acrylic, along with gel and French tip pedicures.
- Starr does a full set on the toes, or acrylic or Gel X on the big toes only if that is all you want, plus gel and luxury pedicures.

Finishes and designs
Once the extensions are on, they are finished like any other set. A French tip is a common request: just ask for Gel X toes with a French finish when you book. Solid colours and nail art are options too. Detailed art adds time, so mention it when you call.
